Rodeo was always a big part of Daniel's life. Anyone who knew
Daniel or met him for the first time, soon realized he was a
cowboy in every way.
Daniel died on August 7, 2005 from injuries sustained at a
PRCA rodeo on August 6. He was 19.
The night before he died, he lived one of his dreams. He had
drawn D & H Cattle Company's bucking bull, Crossfire
Hurricane at the Idaho Falls PRCA Rodeo. Just to have the
chance to put his rope on this great bull had him on Cloud 9.
Though he did not ride Crossfire for eight seconds, he sure
gave him heck for about five. He told a television reporter
that night while he was being interviewed on television, “This
is what I do. I'm going to keep doing it until I can't do it
anymore.”
After being interviewed, two young boys asked him for his
autograph, a first at a pro-rodeo. Daniel pulled off his number
from his vest, then asked them “What was your favorite
event?” They both replied “Bull Riding.” When he realized
that he need something to sign for the other young boy, he
crawled under the walkway to pickup a discarded number and
signed it. Their faces were beaming and they were so excited.
This rodeo would not happen if it were not for the
outstanding corporate and private financial support that we
have received over the last three years. This event is a labor
of love not only for his family, but for the committee
members, and the countless volunteers, all of which were
friends or family of Daniel.
It is our goal and commitment to continue doing good things
in his hometown and giving the community the opportunity to
celebrate his life and the sport he so loved.

A portion of the proceeds from this rodeo will be donated to community charities.
